Merchant Exporter” refers to a person engaged in trading activities and involved in the exportation or intention to export goods. The merchant exporter acquires goods from a manufacturer and exports them under their own firm’s name. The orders for export are acquired from the international market. It’s important to note that a merchant exporter does not possess their own manufacturing unit or processing factory. They have the option to export excisable goods directly from the manufacturer’s premises, with or without sealing the export consignments, or through their premises, claiming rebate or operating under a bonded system.

“Manufacturer Exporter” refers to a person who manufactures goods and exports or intends to export such goods. The manufacturer exporter procures raw materials and carries out the processing at their factory, ultimately exporting finished products. In this case, the manufacturer exporter acquires the export order and exports the goods under their own name.
